Service Location Protocol provides the ability to advertise a vendors service if their provider is configured to do so. StorageIM incorporated SLP discovery in order to discover a provider’s existence before configuring. This allows a user to make sure that a provider is installed and configured correctly. SLP discovery in StorageIM allows for both unicast and multicast discovery. Unicast discovery is a manual process in which you must provide an IP Address or host name that has a SLP server agent or directory agent installed. The multicast SLP discovery automatically discovers SLP agents. You can also use the multicast “Rediscover” button to push a new multicast rediscovery.
